Robert L. Lakind, an Associate, is a member of Szaferman Lakind's general litigation group with a focus on handling sophisticated class actions involving the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA) and the Investment Company Act of 1940. Prior to joining the firm, Rob practiced at two international law firms in New York City and Philadelphia. At both firms, his practice was concentrated in representing clients in issues involving employee benefits. This included the representation of clients involved in complex litigation over alleged ERISA violations, the preparation of Securities and Exchange Commission filings, providing general counsel to assist clients in addressing employee benefit matters in corporate transactions and ensuring that their benefit plans and arrangements were in compliance with the Internal Revenue Code. At Szaferman Lakind, Mr. Lakind continues to work in the area of ERISA, on both litigation and compliance matters, as well as assisting clients in complying with their responsibilities under the Internal Revenue Code. Mr. Lakind is a former commercial airline pilot who flew international and domestic flights. Through his aviation career, Mr. Lakind has acquired extensive knowledge and experience regarding Federal Aviation Administration regulations, aircraft operations, and the causes of aircraft accidents. Mr. Lakind is admitted to the New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania Bars. He received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from American University, Washington College of Law, and a Masters of Law in Taxation from New York University School of Law. He received his B.A. in Economics from The George Washington University.
