In a court of law, cases don’t always end up the way you hope. Sometimes cases are lost but all hope isn’t. Appeals are a way to request a formal change to a decision and our lawyers have handled hundreds of appeals.
Szaferman Lakind is fortunate to have several retired appellate and trial court judges associated with our firm who arbitrate and mediate disputes and provide advice to our lawyers including Stephen Skillman, J.A.D. (Ret.) who served on the Superior Court – Appellate Division for 26 years and as a presiding Judge on that Court for 11 years; Anthony Parrillo, J.A.D. (Ret.), who also served on the Superior Court, Appellate Division, and spent 13 years as a presiding Appellate Division Judge; Linda Feinberg, A.J.S.C. (Ret.), who served as the Assignment Judge in Mercer County, Municipal Court Judge in Lawrence Township, and was then elevated to serve as the Mercer County Assignment Judge. All of our retired judges are experienced mediators and/or arbitrators and they serve as an invaluable resource to attorneys, consulting on trial matters and helping with tactics and strategies.
In addition to our judges, we employ a number of former Supreme Court and Appellate Division law clerks. They serve as an invaluable source of knowledge and experience to guide your case and your appeal.
Opinions of the court are only published when the rulings involve significant and important cases. Few court opinions are ever published. However, attorneys in our firm have over 100 published opinions. The sheer number is testament to our zealous advocacy. We have had the good fortune to establish new law in diverse areas, such as family law, personal injury, contracts and business disputes, commercial arbitration, land use and zoning, environmental law, criminal law and sexual assault.
