Your doctor’s request to take exams with a doctor is meant to determine whether you will be able to return to your job. These are called fit for duty or functional capacity exams.

These exams will consist of exercises and movements that identify your ability or inability to lift, push, walk, and perform other work duties. The point is to get a gauge of your physical limitations.

Your employer’s purpose for sending you to these exams may be to cut off your benefits or to receive an indication that you won’t be able to return to your job. You must try your best to do well at these exams. Update your attorney on the matter both before and after the exams. Watch the video to learn more.
